Company Introduction – Dumpling & Bao
Established in 2025, Dumpling & Bao is an authentic Chinese culinary brand founded by two passionate female entrepreneurs, Kat Zhao and Jona Chen. Specializing in handcrafted dumplings and bao, the company is dedicated to delivering truly traditional Asian flavors—not the Westernized "Chinese food" many are used to, but dishes rooted in centuries of heritage and rarely found outside Asia.
Driven by a deep respect for culinary tradition, Kat and Jona spent over three months traveling across major Chinese cities—Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou—where they trained under seasoned chefs with more than 20 years of experience in dough-making and traditional cooking. From soup dumplings and steamed buns to northern-style handmade dumplings and a variety of classic Chinese dishes, they mastered the techniques needed to faithfully recreate the essence of Chinese comfort food.
Having lived in the local community for over 15 years, the founders are committed to enriching the food culture in their hometown. The first flagship location of Dumpling & Bao will open on Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge, with plans to expand locally and share their culinary vision with more communities.
